Does happiness or a lack o f it, depend on being
busy or m aterial goods? Here’s the answer.
According to a study by Chris Manolis of Xavier University
and James Roberts of Baylor University, US, excess doesn’t
always equal happiness. When 1,329 teens were asked how
much importance they gave to materialistic values, vis-à-vis
happiness, the results showed that those who were materialistic
had lower happiness levels. In fact, to be happy, lack of free
time plays a crucial role along with high-activity levels. So tell
your teens that designer jeans will not make them happy. Keep
them busy, so that they are happier without the pricey add-ons.
